6 DIY Projects to Tackle This Weekend

6 DIYs to Try This Weekend

This week I’ve been testing new recipes, finishing up a few sewing projects with Linda, and reviewing applications for the P&S job listings. (Applications are open through the end of the day on Monday the 24th.)

After we finish a small shoot later today, I’ll probably curl up under a blanket, binge a show on Netflix (I just finished BoJack Horseman — have you seen it?) and snack on a taco. Tomorrow, Jeff and I are planning to get away from our computers for the day and maybe catch a movie.

Before we head out, I wanted to share some simple DIY projects you can try this weekend if you have a little free time. Here are six fun ideas to get you started:

  1. Cotton candy donuts — A whimsical, sweet treat that combines fluffy cotton candy with freshly made donuts. It’s playful and perfect for a weekend baking experiment.
  2. Color-blocked frozen sangria — A layered, frozen cocktail that looks as good as it tastes. Try making bold, contrasting fruit layers for a colorful summer drink.
  3. Chocolate-covered strawberry cake ball truffles — Bite-sized and indulgent, these cake balls are coated in chocolate and studded with fresh strawberry flavor. They make a great dessert for gatherings or a special weekend treat.
  4. DIY paper prize ribbon — A charming, handmade ribbon you can customize for gifts, party favors, or to celebrate small wins. Make several in different colors and patterns for an instant mood lift.
  5. Starburst stenciled faux wallpaper — Create an eye-catching feature wall using a simple stamp or stencil technique. This stenciled pattern gives the look of wallpaper without the commitment.
  6. Abstract color cloud art with permanent markers — A quick, low-mess art project that produces vibrant, cloud-like color fields. Perfect for trying a new technique and adding handmade art to your walls.

Each of these projects is approachable for a weekend afternoon and can be adapted to suit your taste and style. Whether you want to bake, craft, or make something decorative for your home, pick one that sounds fun and give it a go.

Have a wonderful weekend!
