Because two buns are always better than one, today’s DIY hair tutorial is a double bun.

This playful, secure hairstyle is perfect for a casual day out or for active plans—running errands, working out, or even playing double Dutch. It’s quick to create and holds up well throughout the day.
Channel your inner Miley with this simple five-minute double bun tutorial.

Supplies Needed for Double Bun Updo
- Comb (for teasing)
- Two elastic hair ties
- Bobby pins
Double Bun Updo (How To)
1. Part your hair and make pigtails.
Part your hair straight down the middle and gather each side into a high pigtail. Position the pigtails symmetrically so the buns sit evenly on each side of your head.
2. Tease hair and wrap into buns.
Lightly tease each pigtail to add texture and grip. Then wrap each section into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. Twisting the hair as you wrap gives a tidier, more defined look, but it’s optional depending on the style you prefer.
3. Add pins and shape.
Gently pull small sections from the edges of each bun to widen and soften them for a fuller, more relaxed appearance. Use additional bobby pins to secure any loose strands and to reinforce the shape so the buns stay put during the day.

Instructions
Part your hair and make pigtails.
Split your hair into two sections with a middle part, then pull each section up into a high pigtail.
Tease hair and wrap around.
Lightly tease each pigtail to add texture. Wrap each into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Twisting the hair as you wrap is optional but gives a neater finish.
Add hair pins.
To give each bun more volume, gently pull out small sections around the edges so the bun looks fuller. Secure with extra pins as needed to keep everything in place.
