No matter how styles and trends shift, one aspect of interior design I’ll always love is natural light — and lots of it. In practice that means large, abundant windows that flood rooms with daylight.
When we lived in Seattle, our apartment had floor-to-ceiling windows in every room and it felt wonderful. After moving back to Florida, finding that same kind of light-filled space proved difficult, so for now I enjoy dreaming about spaces like these.
1. (above) This home is stunning. I admire the detailed moldings paired with a mix of modern and vintage furniture and curated artwork.
2. Here are a couple more images from the same residence. The continuity of style and volume of light make it especially appealing.
3. Can you imagine living under a ceiling of glass like this? Whether you call it a glass roof, oversized skylights, or expansive windows, the effect is simply breathtaking and transforms the space.
4. I love the walls of windows in this Oakland studio — they bring in light and create a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding environment.
5. These windows follow a similar idea: minimalist framing and large panes that emphasize openness and brightness. The result is a calm, beautiful interior.
6. Finally, a gorgeous loft that doubles as a concept store. Even on a gloomy day, the generous natural light keeps the space warm and inviting.
Quick question: if you had to choose one of these six spaces to move into tomorrow, which would it be? My pick is #1. I’d love to hear which one you’d choose.
