5 Savory Popcorn Recipes to Try

Popcorn Recipe #1: Rosemary Thyme Black Pepper Popcorn
- 1–2 sprigs fresh rosemary, coarsely chopped
- 1 sprig fresh thyme, coarsely chopped
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2–3 tbsp olive oil to coat popcorn
- 8–10 cups popped popcorn
Place warm, just-popped popcorn in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss until the oil coats the kernels evenly. Gently fold in the chopped rosemary and thyme, then add salt and black pepper. If the herbs aren’t sticking, add a little more oil.
If you’re using pre-packaged popcorn that’s not warm, season as above, spread the popcorn on a baking sheet, and warm in the oven at 250°F (about 120°C) for 4–5 minutes to help the flavors adhere.
Popcorn Recipe #2: Spicy Sriracha Popcorn
- 1–2 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
- Sea salt
- 8–10 cups popped popcorn
Put warm popcorn in a large bowl and sprinkle with sea salt. Add sriracha a few drops at a time, tossing gently until the popcorn is lightly coated. Go slowly—adding too much at once can make the popcorn soggy.
For cold pre-packaged popcorn, season as above and bake on a sheet at 250°F for 5–6 minutes to set the sauce.
Popcorn Recipe #3: Spicy Chili Lime Popcorn
- 1–2 tbsp chili-lime seasoning (a store-bought blend works well)
- 1 tsp red chili flakes (more if you like extra heat)
- 2–3 tbsp olive oil
- 8–10 cups popped popcorn
Toss warm popcorn with olive oil in a large bowl until evenly coated. Sprinkle in the chili-lime seasoning and red chili flakes, then stir gently to distribute the spices. Adjust seasoning to taste.
If the popcorn isn’t warm, follow the same steps and bake on a sheet at 250°F for 4–5 minutes to meld the flavors.

Popcorn Recipe #4: Coconut Turmeric Saffron Popcorn
- 2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1–2 pinches saffron, lightly crumbled
- 2 tbsp melted coconut oil (or use coconut oil spray)
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 8–10 cups popped popcorn
Place warm popcorn in a large bowl, add melted coconut oil and salt, then sprinkle in turmeric and saffron. Gently stir until the spices are evenly distributed and the popcorn has a warm golden color.
For pre-popped cold popcorn, season and then warm in a 250°F oven for 4–5 minutes to help the spices adhere.
Popcorn Recipe #5: Everything Bagel Garlic Popcorn
- 1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2–3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 8–10 cups popped popcorn
In a large bowl, combine warm popcorn with olive oil and sea salt. Sprinkle in the everything bagel seasoning and garlic powder, then toss gently until evenly coated. Add a touch more oil if needed for better adhesion.
If using cold bagged popcorn, season as above and bake at 250°F for 4–5 minutes to set the flavors.
