Today I’m filming a big holiday video, which has me feeling excited about Christmas and New Year’s already. Since it’s still early and not even Halloween yet, I won’t get into all the holiday details — but if you’re curious, I’ll be sharing a few behind-the-scenes sneak peeks on Snapchat today (I’m brittnimehlhoff if you want to follow along).
This weekend I don’t have many plans; after a busy week I’ll probably take it easy and relax. What about you — any fun plans?
If you have some free time and want a creative project, here are a few DIY ideas to try:
- DIY gold foil wall art from Sugar & Cloth
- DIY pumpkin lantern from DesignLoveFest
- DIY ombre chair makeover
- DIY crochet pizza sweater from Studio DIY
- Marshmallow cupcakes from DesignLoveFest
- DIY balloon-dipped pumpkins — an easy no-carve Halloween project

On another note, I partnered with an illustrator I admire, Natalie K Nelson — whose clients include The New York Times, Esquire, and The Washington Post — for a contest with Principal Financial Group. The image above is an illustration she created of me. I love her work.
There’s a simple contest where you can win a custom illustration by Natalie: just post a photo to Instagram for a chance to win. Full entry details are available where the contest is posted on Instagram.
Also, if you need last-minute costume inspiration, I put together a collection of 24 favorite DIY Halloween costumes to make before October 31st.
Have a great weekend.
