Linen Bedding Ideas: Two Looks and Our Primary Bedroom Update

Linen bedding is the best — and I’m going to show you two ways to style it in your bedroom. Read on and see which look you prefer.

It took longer than I expected (as these projects often do), but our bedroom is finally starting to come together — DIY headboard and all.

To celebrate, I styled our new linen bedding from Magic Linen two different ways so we can easily switch the look whenever the mood strikes.

I have a favorite, and Jeff has his too. I’d love to know which one you like best.

Keep reading to see both setups and the pieces used to recreate each look.

I’ve been hearing great things about Magic Linen for over a year, and I’m a big fan of linen in general — especially for bedding.

Linen is temperature-regulating, meaning it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer, so you can comfortably use the same bedding year-round (as long as you wash it regularly).

I also love linen’s relaxed aesthetic. It has a lovely visual texture and looks beautiful even with natural wrinkles.

Because we need two sets for rotation while one set is in the wash, I decided to style the bedroom two ways and mix and match pieces. The natural striped linen duvet is my favorite; Jeff prefers the solid natural linen — so I combined them to create both looks.

Bedroom linen styling

Look 1: Linen Stripes

I hadn’t seriously considered a striped duvet until I saw this natural striped option from Magic Linen. The neutral palette feels calm and the stripe adds subtle interest.

I paired the striped duvet with simple white linen sheets, natural linen pillowcases, and a beige waffle throw for texture.

The waffle throws are wonderful — soft, warm, and available in two sizes. They’re a lovely finishing layer and also make a great gift.

To recreate this look

Here are the key pieces used to achieve the striped linen setup:

  • Natural striped linen duvet cover set (duvet cover + 2 pillowcases)
  • White linen fitted sheet
  • Beige waffle throw (available in two sizes)
  • Natural linen pillowcases
  • Charcoal grid linen pillowcases (small boudoir size for an added accent)

Note: I already had similar grid pillowcases, so I included the closest match from Magic Linen.

Look 2: Even More Neutral

This second look leans into an even more minimal, neutral palette. It’s softer and simpler than the striped version, with a subtle pop of color from a wood-rose waffle throw.

I don’t have as many photos of this setup because the light faded quickly while I was shooting, but the restrained styling reads calm and refined.

To recreate this look

  • Natural linen duvet cover set (duvet cover + 2 pillowcases)
  • Natural striped linen fitted sheet
  • Striped linen pillowcases
  • White linen flat sheet
  • Wood-rose waffle throw for a warm accent

How we like our Magic Linen bedding so far

We’ve been sleeping on the Magic Linen bedding for about two weeks and both of us genuinely love it. In California, temperatures swing quickly, and linen’s temperature-regulating qualities have been ideal — I don’t wake up too hot or too cold.

Beyond comfort, the bedding elevates the room’s overall look and helps tie together the finishing touches, especially alongside the DIY headboard I built.

On a related note, I also purchased a white linen tablecloth that I love; Magic Linen carries table linens, clothing, curtains, fabric by the yard, and more.
