6 Weekend DIY Projects to Try This Weekend

Next week I’m traveling to Los Angeles for a secret project I can’t wait to share, so I’m spending the weekend prepping a few behind-the-scenes details. Unrelatedly, I’m also going to Cirque du Soleil tonight and I’m so excited. We saw our first Cirque show last year (KURIOS) and both Jeff and I absolutely loved it, so we couldn’t wait to go back. We’re dressing up and making a date night of it—mostly an excuse for me to wear one of the dresses I bought in London that’s a little too fancy for everyday.

What are your plans for the weekend? If you want to try some hands-on projects, here are six DIY ideas I recommend this weekend. They’re approachable, stylish, and perfect for a few hours of creative time.

1. DIY tassel throw pillows from Sugar & Cloth — Add playful texture to your sofa with handmade tassels and colorful yarn. These pillows are a quick way to refresh a room without spending much.
2. Printable projects you can make with your phone — From quick art prints to organizational printables, using your phone to create printables is an easy way to personalize your home and gifts.
3. Apple basket DIY from Oh Joy — A charming woven apple basket that’s both decorative and functional for fall displays or kitchen counter styling.
4. Giant blocked bouquet DIY — Create a statement floral arrangement with oversized, blocked flowers for an eye-catching centerpiece that lasts longer than fresh blooms.
5. Macrame room divider from A Beautiful Mess — Use macramé to define spaces and add boho texture. A homemade room divider can transform a studio or open-plan area instantly.
6. How to make a large-scale rug from scratch — Learn techniques for crafting a big rug from basic materials. It’s a rewarding project that makes a major impact on any room.

If any of these catch your eye, pick a project and enjoy a productive, creative weekend. Whether you’re making something practical or decorative, DIY is a great way to unwind and add personality to your home.

Hope you have a happy weekend.
