Yesterday I spent the day experimenting with new dyeing techniques — I don’t know if I’ll ever stop trying new things — and you might have caught a few glimpses on Snapchat (follow me @brittnimehlhoff). Today I’m working on a couple of food projects I hope to finish soon. Mostly because I want the leftovers for dinner. Priorities, right?
Before I dive back into the kitchen, here are some weekend projects you can try. They’re simple, creative, and perfect for a few hours of productive fun:
Weekend DIY & Recipe Ideas
- DIY concrete planter vase — a modern, minimal piece I made for Curbly that’s great for succulents or small houseplants.
- Pineapple mango shrimp kabobs — a bright, tropical grilled skewer recipe that pairs sweet fruit with savory shrimp.
- DIY faux ceramic ring cones — an easy craft from Almost Makes Perfect that gives you elegant, ceramic-looking ring holders without the fuss.
- Floral-printed pillow — a simple fabric-printing project shared by Ukkonooa to refresh a pillowcase with a custom botanical design.
- Fig, caramel, walnut & goat cheesecake — a decadent dessert combining sweet figs, caramel sauce, crunchy walnuts, and tangy goat cheese.
- DIY clothing hanger idea — a clever way to upgrade plain hangers into something stylish and functional for your closet.
These picks include a mix of crafts and recipes so you can choose something hands-on or something delicious to make. Many of them work well as gifts or quick home updates, and most require only a few supplies you may already have on hand.
P.S. Jeff and I are hoping to kayak on the Chattahoochee River this weekend if the weather cooperates. We want to soak up a few last summer moments before fall arrives. I haven’t kayaked in years, so I’m actually looking forward to it. What are your plans for the weekend?
