I’ve noticed many holiday hair tutorials lately, but the most polished styles often require more time and effort than most of us can spare. Few of us have 45 extra minutes to perfect our hair before rushing off to parties or events. If you’re short on time but still want a festive, put-together look, these quick options are for you.
This tutorial presents two simple, polished hairstyles you can create in about 10 minutes. Both look effortless and elegant—perfect for holiday gatherings or any time you want an easy, refined updo. Follow the steps below to recreate each look.
Instructions
1. Section the hair: Separate the top half of your hair from the bottom and gather the top section into a ponytail secured with a small elastic.
2. Conceal the elastic: Take a thin strand from the ponytail, wrap it around the base to hide the elastic, and tuck the end underneath the wrapped section so it stays in place.
3. Add volume: Lightly tease the wrapped ponytail near the top to create lift and texture.
4. Combine sections: Gather all of your hair into a low ponytail and secure it with another elastic. Gently tease the area above the elastic for additional volume and a soft, lifted look.
5. Choose your finish: Leave the low ponytail as-is for a relaxed, chic style, or create a more polished updo by rolling and tucking the ponytail up against the nape. Secure the tucked roll with bobby pins so it feels secure and smooth.
6. Set the style: Finish with a light mist of hairspray to hold the volume and keep flyaways in check. Adjust any pieces and pin as needed for a refined look.
