Spring floral arrangements are bright and cheerful. It’s hard not to smile when you look at those quintessential spring blooms.

I had a bunch of leftover blooms this weekend after finishing a project and didn’t want them to go to waste. So I quickly assembled several mini bouquets and a few wedding boutonnieres.

Seeing them grouped together made me think of my own wedding. I made all the wedding flowers myself and we used a lot of yellow accents. That memory got me thinking about the charm—and the mild chaos—of DIY weddings.

Below you’ll find a simple flower “recipe” for a spring mini bouquet, a few spring boutonnieres, and ideas for small arrangements you can use around the house or for a wedding.

I love floral arranging and I especially enjoy wedding DIY projects. In previous posts I’ve shown how to make a bridal bouquet, creative watercolor save‑the‑date postcard ideas, and even a vintage book ring holder tutorial. These spring arrangements fit just as well for everyday entertaining as they do for weddings—mini bouquets on the table, small centerpieces, or delicate boutonnieres.

These ideas also work nicely for Easter or Mother’s Day—simple, fresh combinations that feel like spring. To make a mini bouquet you only need a handful of stems; boutonnieres need even fewer. Use the lists below as starting points and adapt each recipe to the materials you can find.

For boutonnieres you really only need three elements: one greenery/filler (like acacia), one structural filler (like a billy ball), and one small focal bloom (like a ranunculus). Wrap floral wire around the stems to secure them, then cover the base with velvet ribbon or washi tape to hide the wire and finish the look.

When my husband and I married, we used an even simpler approach—just one or two billy balls with a tiny sprig of greenery, stems wrapped in washi tape. Beautiful arrangements don’t have to be elaborate; sometimes simplicity is the most striking choice.
