Happy almost Thanksgiving! Before I head out for one last day of behind-the-scenes projects and some grocery shopping for tomorrow’s turkey day, I wanted to share photos from our visit to Wynwood Walls in Miami.
Yesterday I mentioned I took too many photos at Wynwood to simply add them to an already lengthy Miami travel guide post, so today I’m sharing the images from that part of the trip.
If you’re not familiar with Wynwood Walls, it’s worth a quick introduction: a former warehouse district in Miami transformed into an open-air mural gallery featuring remarkable artists from around the world. The project began in 2009 and has since become a must-see destination for anyone interested in street art and large-scale murals. If you’re ever in Miami, it’s well worth a visit. Until then, here are some photos from our walk through the neighborhood.
(Above) My favorite mural at Wynwood is by Maya Hayuk — the colors and the geometric patterns are stunning.
One of my other favorites is this colorful mural on the Junior and Hatter building. I wasn’t able to find the artist’s name, so if you recognize it, please let me know.
I also loved the ’50 Cakes of Gay’ piece by Kashink — the bold colors and playful patterns really stand out.
Note: the mural above wasn’t actually part of the Wynwood Walls complex, but we passed it on the way there, and it felt worth including.
This delicate palette is by Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn, the duo known as Haas & Hahn — their balance of color and composition is lovely.
