When November arrives, I get excited about the holiday season, but I usually prefer a subtle approach to decorating. This year I embraced a softer holiday vibe with the help of Framebridge, focusing on unexpected holiday colors and simple updates that make a big impact without feeling overly festive.
What I did: I chose artwork in red and pink tones as the foundation, then added a few holiday accents—touches of green to complete the palette—plus a scent element like a candle or diffuser. The result is an entryway that feels seasonal without being over the top. It’s quick, simple, and approachable.
Below are three easy ways to refresh your entryway for the holidays without spending a lot of time or effort.

1. Start with artwork
I had several unframed prints from Leah Reena Goren and Kiki and Polly, and Rachel and I also created two pieces ourselves using acrylic paint on heavy art paper. Framing these pieces gave the entryway an instant lift.
The Framebridge process is straightforward: measure your artwork (approximate sizes are fine), choose a frame and mat style, and decide whether you want a floating mat or a standard mat. A floating mat works especially well when you want to showcase deckled edges or a signature at the bottom of a piece. For example, the pie chart print I used is on BFK paper with a deckled edge, so the floating mat helps show that texture. Mixing different mat styles across a set of frames creates a custom, curated look.
After you place your order, Framebridge sends packing supplies. You send the artwork back using their mailers, and they return the framed pieces to you. It’s an easy way to professionalize art you already own.

2. Add small holiday decor touches
Keep decor minimal and purposeful. I added two small bottle brush trees in unconventional colors—dark gray and teal—to keep the display understated. Hanging a wreath over one of the framed pieces kept the arrangement casual, and a few gold accents added a hint of sparkle without overpowering the space. Small pieces with distinct colors or textures can read as festive while still feeling modern and simple.
3. Use candles or oil diffusers for scent
Scent is an easy way to make a space feel seasonal. I conceal an oil diffuser inside a white hexagon container and remove the lid when I want to refresh the entryway. Concealing the diffuser keeps the surface visually clean while still letting the scent do the work. If you prefer candles, choose a low-profile style or group a couple of votives to keep the look streamlined.

Those are my simple entryway tips for the holidays: use artwork as a starting point, introduce a few small festive accents, and add a subtle scent. Framing pieces you already own is an easy and effective way to make the whole space feel intentional. If you have artwork that needs framing, professional framing can elevate the look quickly and affordably.
