6 Weekend DIY Projects You Can Complete in a Day

6 DIYs to Try This Weekend

I’ve been working on a few DIY projects throughout the week behind the scenes, and I wanted to share some of my favorites for weekend inspiration. These ideas are simple, creative, and perfect for carving out a few hours of hands-on time.

This weekend I’ll be juggling work and a little downtime—on Monday morning I’m heading to Chattanooga with my friends Ashley and Kayla (two-thirds of the Sugar & Cloth team) for a short getaway. Between meetings and catching up on The Mindy Project (I can’t work the entire weekend!), I plan to daydream about trying one of these six weekend DIYs.

Here are six easy projects to consider:

  • DIY Planter Closet — Transform a small closet or cabinet into a dedicated planter storage and display space. With shelves, hooks, and tidy organization, this idea makes plant care and pot storage attractive and functional.
  • $5 Hanging Planter Hack — A budget-friendly hanging planter solution using affordable supplies. This quick hack creates a stylish hanging planter for small spaces, balconies, or windowsills without breaking the bank.
  • DIY Cleansing Yoga Mat Spray — Make a natural, refreshing spray to clean and deodorize your yoga mat between sessions. Using simple ingredients like distilled water, gentle cleanser, and essential oils, you can keep your mat fresh and ready.
  • Floating Flower Table Display — Create a delicate, elevated floral centerpiece with floating blooms and a clean tabletop presentation. This look is great for dinner parties or a casual weekend meal with friends.
  • Five-Minute DIY Artwork — A fast, creative way to make original art using simple materials you probably already have. This quick project yields bold, modern pieces you can frame or hang as-is.
  • DIY Woven Wall Hanging — Craft a textured, handmade wall hanging using yarn, rope, and a small dowel or branch. Weavings add warmth and personality to any room and are a relaxing weekend craft.

Each of these projects can be adapted to your style and available materials, making them excellent choices whether you want something quick or a little more involved. They’re also great starters if you’re building your DIY skills—small, satisfying results for minimal time and cost.

Wishing you a creative and restful weekend—whether you tackle a project or simply enjoy a few peaceful moments.
