Miami, here we come!

Last week I flew down to Miami for a few days to catch up with friends I rarely see—shout out to Ashley, Lexy, and Kelly. Though it was a short trip (just three nights), it was full of sunny moments and good company.
We relaxed by the pool, walked along the beach, and even improvised reheating leftover biscuits with a hotel hairdryer—just the kind of playful, low-key antics that make a quick getaway memorable. We spent most of our time eating avocado toast and chatting, so I didn’t take as many photos as I usually would, but I did manage to capture a few slices of the city.
I’ve been to Miami before and put together a travel guide that covers where to stay and what to do if you’re looking for recommendations. But if you’re after a dose of tropical inspiration for your Wednesday, here are some photos and impressions from about 72 hours in Miami.

Miami is a city of color and easy rhythms: cheerful pool loungers, striped cabanas, and beachside stands that brighten the shoreline. Between sun-soaked afternoons and evening conversations, the trip felt like a compact celebration of warm weather and friendship.
Side note: I’m planning a last-minute road trip this weekend for Jeff and me and could use some input on where to go. If you’re hunting for road trip inspiration, here are a few of my favorites—short drives that offer a mix of scenery, charming stops, and good food.

Here are some of my favorite routes and destinations:
- Atlanta to Asheville — One of the most fun drives I’ve taken, with plenty of unique stops and scenic detours along the way.
- Atlanta to Providence Canyon — A shorter trip I’ve driven many times; it’s a great quick getaway with striking natural scenery.
- Richmond, Virginia — If you’re in Virginia, Richmond is full of interesting neighborhoods, history, and a lively food scene.
- Chattanooga — A varied city with activities for different tastes; I visited with friends and put together a practical, non-outdoorsy guide to the area.
- Charleston — A delightful destination for history, architecture, and southern hospitality that makes for a memorable trip.
Whether you’re planning a beach escape or a scenic drive, Miami and the nearby regions offer lots of options for short, satisfying trips. If you want suggestions based on how far you want to drive or what kind of activities you prefer, tell me the distance and your interests and I’ll suggest a few tailored routes.
