6 Weekend DIY Projects You Can Make in a Day

6 DIYs to Try This Weekend

I’ve been wrapping up a few behind-the-scenes projects this week. Time somehow moved both incredibly fast and surprisingly slow, but regardless, Friday has arrived.

If you find yourself with some free hours this weekend, here are six approachable DIY ideas to try. Each project is fun, beginner-friendly, and can be adapted to suit your materials and style.

1. Holographic photo booth backdrop — A shimmering, reflective backdrop is perfect for parties or New Year’s celebrations. With basic supplies like holographic paper or mylar, adhesive, and a sturdy frame or wall space, you can create a dramatic photographed focal point that’s inexpensive and quick to assemble.

2. Honey-yogurt fig pops — These frozen treats blend natural sweetness from figs with creamy yogurt and a touch of honey. They’re simple to make: purée ripe figs, stir in yogurt and honey to taste, pour into molds, and freeze. The result is a refreshing, elegant snack for warm afternoons or dessert.

3. Easy geometric beads — Create minimalist, modern beads using polymer clay or painted wooden beads. Roll, shape, and bake polymer clay into facets and edges, or paint simple geometric patterns on wooden shapes. Use them for necklaces, bracelets, or keychains—custom colors make them a great gift idea.

4. Sewn felt pouch gift wrap — Swap traditional paper gift wrap for soft, reusable felt pouches. Cut felt into rectangles, sew or glue the sides, and add a button, snap, or ribbon closure. Personalize with embroidery, appliqué, or fabric paint for a unique presentation that doubles as part of the gift.

5. Honeycomb ornament cupcake toppers — These delicate, three-dimensional toppers add a charming, tactile detail to cupcakes and baked goods. Construct small honeycomb shapes from paper or lightweight cardstock and attach a toothpick or small skewer. They’re great for seasonal parties, bridal showers, or themed dessert tables.

6. Entryway table makeover — Refresh an entryway table with paint, new hardware, a simple stencil, or decorative accents. Sand and prime surfaces as needed, then choose a color or finish that complements your space. Add a runner, a tray for keys, a small lamp, or a vase with fresh or dried flowers to complete the look and create a welcoming first impression.

All six projects are adaptable to different skill levels and budgets. Pick one that fits the time you have, gather a few basic supplies, and enjoy a creative weekend.

Happy weekend!
