Inspired by a leather-wrapped gift idea, I created a simple DIY that makes a thoughtful holiday present: leather-wrapped message flasks. They’re easy to personalize, affordable, and work for anyone who appreciates a little charm—whether they prefer something playful or more traditionally masculine.

Materials
- Flask (choose a size and shape you like)
- Leather strap or strip long enough to wrap the flask
- Metal letter stamp set for leather
- Stamping hammer (a regular hammer can work, but a stamping hammer is easier)
- Leather hole punch
- Needle and strong thread or waxed cord
Step-by-step instructions
1. Wrap the leather strip around the flask and mark where the two ends meet. Aim for the leather to meet at the back without overlapping.
2. Plan your message and lay out the letters in the order you’ll stamp them. Position the first metal letter stamp straight up on the leather strip, then strike the top of the stamp firmly with the hammer to imprint the leather. A stamping hammer gives better control, but a regular hammer works in a pinch.
3. Continue stamping each letter until your name, phrase, or message is complete. Take care to keep the letters evenly spaced and aligned.
4. Punch two holes at each end of the leather strip using the hole punch. Wrap the strap around the flask and stitch the two ends together through the punched holes with needle and thread or waxed cord. Tie a secure double or triple knot and trim any excess. If possible, position the knot on the inside or underneath so it isn’t visible.

That’s it—finished flasks ready to tuck into stockings or wrap as a small holiday gift. They’re quick to make in batches, and because each is personalized, they feel extra special.
Stamped flasks with names or short messages also double as unique place cards for holiday dinners or gatherings. Personalization makes them memorable and practical at the same time.

Thoughts on the finished flasks — I love how personalized they feel. If you try this DIY for the holidays, you can adapt colors, fonts, and flask shapes to suit each recipient. Would you make these as gifts this year? Share your ideas and variations—names, short phrases, or even small symbols look great when stamped into leather.
