Yesterday I spent the day cleaning, rearranging, and vacuuming up a lot of dog hair—Luna sheds heavily in the summer—because today we have a magazine shoot at the house. I’m excited to share more about that soon. I’ll also post some behind-the-scenes content on Snapchat if you’d like to follow along.
After the shoot wraps, I’ll be heading back to the studio to photograph several food projects planned for the coming weeks. It’s a busy day, but it’s Friday, and that means DIY roundup day. I’m never too busy for DIYs—especially when they include recipes like nachos and clever ideas like DIY fruit bowls.
Here are 7 DIYs to try this weekend:
- DIY grape cluster pillow from SC Johnson
- How to make natural lip balm with just two ingredients
- DIY pom-pom tassel pool bag from Sugar & Cloth
- How to make a modern quilted pillow from See Kate Sew
- DIY fruit bowls from Proper
- Baked chicken nachos from DesignLoveFest — perfect for a weekend snack or casual gathering
- DIY workspace tables for a refreshed home office or creative nook
Each of these projects offers a mix of easy crafts, practical home updates, and tasty treats. The grape cluster pillow adds playful texture to your sofa or a child’s room. The two-ingredient lip balm is a simple, natural beauty project that makes a great homemade gift. The pom-pom tassel pool bag is bright and summery—ideal for days by the pool or beach. The modern quilted pillow tutorial demonstrates a clean, graphic approach to quilting that suits contemporary decor. DIY fruit bowls are both decorative and functional, letting you display seasonal fruit in style. Baked chicken nachos are an upgrade on a classic party dish—easy to assemble and perfect for sharing. Finally, building a DIY workspace table can transform your work or craft area with a personalized touch.
These projects vary in skill level and time commitment, so you can pick one to finish in a few hours or tackle a larger weekend project. Gather basic supplies like fabric scraps, yarn, household items for molds, or simple pantry ingredients, depending on which DIY you choose. If you plan to cook, prepare toppings and bake in batches for easy serving. For decor and sewing projects, measure twice and cut once to ensure a polished result.
What are your plans for the weekend? Any DIY projects or fun plans on your schedule?
