I shared a tiny sneak peek of this reveal on Instagram a while back, and now I can finally share the full transformation. I completed a front porch makeover and have been excited to show it ever since. Considering how unusable the space was before, it’s become one of my favorite spots to relax—even in Atlanta’s heat.
The porch is small and has the same layout as my upstairs balcony, which made tackling another makeover feel a bit intimidating. I didn’t want to repeat the same design twice, so I approached this one with a fresh plan.

With some online searching I found everything I needed in one surprising place: Bed Bath & Beyond. I typically pop into the local store for household items, but I hadn’t explored their decorative selection until this project. I was impressed by how many stylish, unique pieces they carry—and I ended up sourcing the entire makeover from there.
Every visible item in the after photos (except the live plants) came from Bed Bath & Beyond—the rug, chairs, table, planters, accessories. If you’re refreshing a space or starting a full overhaul, it’s worth browsing their online store. I used it heavily while planning, and the shipping was fast.

From the before shots you can see the porch was essentially untouched and very small. The railing lets light through and gives it an open feel, but square-footage is limited. Because the porch is the first thing people see when they approach the house, my goal was to create a visual impact while keeping the arrangement simple and practical. I limited choices to items I loved or pieces that served a clear purpose.
I began with the largest pieces: seating, a table, and a rug. I wanted a cozy seating area with rockers, a long-time wish for a front-porch moment. After searching, I found a set of all-weather wood rocking chairs that fit the porch perfectly and actually look great—stylish rockers aren’t easy to find.

I paired the rockers with a set of small nesting side tables and a durable outdoor rug. Finding an outdoor rug with a modern look was important; the grey geometric rug I chose grounds the space and complements the chairs. After selecting the rug, I added patterned grey pillows and a couple of blush options, plus a few throw blankets to soften the seating. Since the porch is covered, I use these textiles out there and bring them inside when it rains.

Next I focused on plants, planters, and the entry area. I wanted greenery without overcrowding the tight layout, so I chose a few planters in varying sizes. My favorite is a white patio planter placed near the door; it separates the seating from the entry and cleverly hides an unsightly electrical outlet. I planted a tall, spiky desert-style plant to give a clean, sculptural look and finished the entrance with a simple, sturdy doormat.
To balance the seating area, I added smaller planters—a marbled pair for the side tables and a shallow bowl planter for a lush fern in one corner. These add texture and life while keeping the space airy.
We also installed an outdoor security camera, which we intended to add regardless of the makeover. It’s useful for monitoring visitors and gives peace of mind; my partner particularly enjoys the real-time alerts and live video on his phone.
That’s the full transformation. The completed porch makes a strong visual impression without feeling cluttered or overdone. It’s relaxed and inviting—an easygoing look that suits a front porch. What do you think of the before-and-after? How would you decorate your front porch if you had free rein?
