Every few months I get the urge to refresh a room in the house. I can’t help it — redecorating is the one area where I welcome change. After finishing our guest bedroom, I couldn’t resist giving Jeff and my master bedroom a light facelift as well.
I teamed up with Parachute, a home textiles company known for exceptionally cozy bedding, for a master bedroom update I hope will stick. Even Jeff is fully on board this time — a definite win.

For this refresh I pared everything down, opting for a refined neutral palette with a few subtle color accents. I emphasized natural textures and finishes we already owned and added a few new pieces intended to last.
This is still slightly a work in progress — I need to frame the artwork above the bed and someday swap my temporary rug for the one I really want. Right now I’m not willing to spend thousands on a rug, so I created a budget-friendly solution.
I purchased two matching 5×7 rugs and placed them side-by-side to form a 10×7 rug under the bed. It’s not flawless, but at under $350 total it fills the room nicely for the moment.

Besides the rug and a pair of matching nightstands from Ikea, the biggest change was the bedding. Partly because I wanted a fresh look, and partly because Luna, our eleven-year-old pitbull, has shredded many sheet sets over the years with her exuberant play. We replaced our old linens with Parachute sheets, and they’ve made a huge difference.
We chose the Percale Venice set in white (fitted sheet, duvet cover, and two pillowcases), plus quilted Essential Shams in white and sand Euro shams. The result feels very hotel-like, which I love. I value sleep highly; comfortable bedding is essential for me.
I also picked up Parachute’s alpaca throw in natural — it’s incredibly soft, and Franz the cat approves.

Most of the furniture was already part of the room: two vintage dressers, a Blu Dot mirror, and our platform bed frame. We added a black-and-white Acapulco chair and swapped the nightstands, but many accessories simply needed rearranging to feel fresh.
