S’more Cups You Can Make Ahead for Parties and Snacks

S’more cups are simple to prepare ahead of time for parties and outdoor gatherings.

Over the years I’ve shared a variety of s’mores-inspired treats—s’mores pizza, poptart s’mores, and s’mores ice cream sandwiches—but this version stands out because the whole dessert is served in a cup. These layered s’more cups are fun, portable, and versatile. You can assemble them ahead of time and simply toast the marshmallows right before serving, making them an ideal option for summer gatherings and backyard celebrations.

These cups are especially handy for holidays and parties because they are single-serve, easy to transport, and simple to customize with different puddings and candy bars. Below is a straightforward recipe you can adapt to your taste.

S’more Cups Recipe

Ingredients

  • Pudding (chocolate, white chocolate, cookies and cream, or your preferred flavor)
  • Graham crackers, crushed
  • Your favorite chocolate candy bars, crushed
  • Mini marshmallows

Instructions

1. Crush the graham crackers into small pieces. Place them in a sealed bag and crush with your hands or a rolling pin to avoid making a mess. Set aside. Crush your chosen candy bars in the same way and set them aside as well.

2. Spoon several generous scoops of pudding into the bottom of a cup. Shallow, wide-mouthed cups work well because they make layering easy and feel like a generous single serving.

3. Add a layer of crushed candy bar (about half a bar per cup, depending on how chocolatey you like it) or a layer of crushed graham crackers. Follow with another layer of pudding—either the same flavor or a different one—and then add another layer of crushed candy or graham crackers, alternating the textures and flavors as you go.

4. Chill the assembled cups in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve. Right before serving, top each cup with mini marshmallows and toast them with a creme brûlée torch to achieve that classic browned, gooey finish. If you don’t have a torch, you can briefly place the cups under a hot broiler for a few seconds, watching carefully so they don’t burn.

I used crushed peanut butter cups, Butterfinger, and Snickers for different cups, but most chocolate candy bars will work—think Kit Kat, Twix, Milky Way, or similar favorites. Mixing and matching candy bars gives each cup its own character and keeps things fun for guests.

These make-ahead s’more cups are perfect for backyard barbecues, campfire treats, picnic desserts, or even National S’mores Day in August. They’re simple to scale up for a crowd: prepare many cups in advance, refrigerate, and finish them all at once with toasted marshmallows for a quick, impressive dessert station.

Tips and variations:

  • Flavor combos: Try chocolate pudding with crushed peanut butter cups, or white chocolate pudding with crushed graham crackers and a caramel-filled candy bar.
  • Texture: Add a sprinkle of coarse sea salt to contrast the sweetness, or include a layer of caramel or fruit compote for complexity.
  • Presentation: Use clear cups so the layers are visible. Small mason jars, plastic dessert cups, or reusable glassware all work well.
  • Toasting alternatives: If you don’t have a torch, warm the broiler for a few minutes and watch closely—marshmallows can go from toasted to burnt in seconds.
