If a unicorn ice cream cone existed, this would be it.

Some time ago I made these color-blocked donuts using edible color mist. They remain one of my most popular food projects—after all, who can resist colorful donuts? Since then I’ve wanted to create something with the same playful, vibrant spirit.
So here’s the cone that followed: the gradient unicorn cone. I’m still debating the name, so feel free to call it whatever you like. It’s pink, purple, and covered in sprinkles, so “unicorn cone” fits for now.
To make one of these, start with soft-serve ice cream in a cone—soft-serve works best because its swirled shape resembles a unicorn horn, though regular scooped ice cream can work too. You’ll also need edible color mist in at least two shades (I used pink and purple) and some sugar sprinkles. Edible color mists are available from various retailers.
Hold the cone and spray the edible color mist over the ice cream from different angles to create a gradient effect. Add sprinkles to finish. It’s simple, fast, and looks delightfully whimsical.

P.S. The color gradient on this cone reminds me a little of the new Instagram logo. Opinions on that redesign are split—some people love it while others really dislike it. What do you think?
