If you’ve been wondering where to buy art online, this guide is for you. Below I’ve collected my favorite sources for both original pieces and prints—places I return to again and again for unique, modern artwork.

Where to buy art? It’s one of my favorite questions to answer. Artwork plays a big role in how I design spaces, and in the past few years I’ve been asked more and more where I find the pieces that fill our home.
Maybe it’s because I almost always have a stack of art leaning against a wall somewhere. Whatever the reason, I wanted to share ten of my go-to online art sources and a handful of artists I love.
Best Online Sources for Unique, Modern Art
1. Fine Little Day
Many of the prints in my son’s room come from Fine Little Day. Their playful, graphic illustrations—like the popular soccer field print, the bunny, the squirrel, and the Tokyo bird—are family favorites and get a lot of questions whenever I share photos.
I’ve also used Fine Little Day for pieces elsewhere in the house, including abstract prints for the bedroom and dining room by Gothenburg-based artist Daniel Götesson (EKTA). I also discovered artist Mogu Takahashi through their shop—her whimsical prints are perfect for kids’ rooms and add joyful energy to any space.

2. Block Shop Textiles
Block Shop Textiles makes stunning woodblock prints with beautiful patterns and textures. I get asked about one of their pieces frequently—their aesthetic pairs wonderfully with organic, warm interiors. Their prints feel handcrafted and timeless.
3. Tappan
Tappan Collective is a reliable place to discover both prints and original pieces from a curated roster of artists. I’ve discovered several artists there and have yet to find a piece I didn’t admire—the selection consistently reflects high quality and thoughtful design.
4. Kiko Print Studios
Kiko Print Studios is a newer venture from Kesslyr Dean (of Kesslyr Dean home textiles) and her husband. Their screen-printed designs translate well into home decor—think pillows, throws, and bold prints that work in modern and kid-friendly spaces. I’ve used some of their textiles as artwork and love how graphic and tactile their pieces feel. Current favorites include Line Dot, Petals, and Snake.

5. The Poster Club
The Poster Club offers a wide range of contemporary prints and also provides framing options if you want a one-stop solution. I’ve ordered prints from them and framed some myself—there’s a lot of variety in styles from minimalist to bold graphic work.
6. Juniper Print Shop
Juniper Print Shop is great because many of their offerings are available as either physical prints or digital downloads. I often choose digital files for non-limited edition prints so I can receive the image instantly and have it printed and framed locally or through online framers for a quick turnaround. One of my favorites from their shop is the “Trails” print by Candace Wiant.
7. Etsy
Etsy remains a wonderful marketplace for finding original work and prints by independent artists and makers. It’s especially useful when you want something handmade, custom, or direct from a small studio.
8. Leif
Leif curates smaller prints from independent artists with a balanced mix of neutral and colorful options. Their collection is approachable and easy to shop—good for mixing into a gallery wall or adding a subtle pop of color.
9. Hotel Magique
Hotel Magique offers cheeky, whimsical prints that can bring humor and personality to a hallway or guest room. I have a “Wake Up / No Thank You” print set that livens up the hallway by our guest room—fun and unexpected pieces like these can be great conversation starters.
10. Upton
Upton features abstract imagery and striking color combinations, and I especially like their canvas prints for adding texture and scale to a room. Their pieces work well in bedrooms and living spaces that need a focal point with a modern feel.

Artists I Recommend
I’ve previously shared a longer list of remarkable female artists—if you’re interested, that list is a great resource for discovering more work. For now, here are a few individual artists whose work I admire and have followed:
- Jen Garrido of Jenny Pennywood
- Elan Byrd
- Jennifer Ament
- Bobby Clark
- Serena Mitnik-Miller
- Claire Oswalt

Those are my top picks for sourcing art online—places and artists that consistently deliver original, modern, and well-crafted work. I’d love to know: where do you find your favorite pieces? Share your go-to art sources—I’m always looking to discover more.
P.S. I often get questions about frames. If you want guidance on modern, pre-made frames and the sizes I recommend, I put together a detailed post on the frames I use for artwork that covers sources and measurements.
