Before I say anything else… yes, I realize we’re already well into the year and I’m only just launching a new year‑long series. I needed a little extra time to plan this one because it’s not a small undertaking.
Here’s the plan. Last year I ran a series called 12 Trips in 12 Months, where I committed to taking at least one trip each month and documented most of the experiences. Despite how ambitious it sounded, I pulled it off — and then some. I visited more than 20 cities, collected plenty of flight points, and loved the momentum that came from following a year‑long challenge. That structure kept me motivated even on days when I didn’t feel like making the effort.
This year I wanted to try something different but still keep that monthly creative push.
I love traveling and I’ll still be exploring this year, but hopping on a plane every single month can be exhausting. So instead I’m launching a new series for 2018: 12 Rooms in 12 Months!
I’m excited to share that for the rest of the year I’ll publish at least one room makeover each month. Some months the transformations will be major; other months they’ll be smaller projects like an entryway refresh or a porch update. Every month will bring a new space with before-and-after photos and the practical details on how the makeover came together.
I’ve already lined up a few resources and collaborators to help make this possible — decorating a dozen spaces in a year is a big task. To catch up for the months that have already passed, I have several makeovers ready that will cover January and February, so I’ll be up to date soon. Stay tuned — I’ll reveal those makeovers shortly.
I need your input: tell me in the comments which rooms you’d most like to see. Guest bedroom, bathroom, dining room, front porch, entryway — what would be the most helpful or inspiring for you? There are plenty of months to fill and I want to create projects that are useful and interesting to readers.
P.S. If you live in the Atlanta area and have a room or outdoor space that desperately needs a makeover, mention it below. I may be looking for reader homes to redo.
