Writing to you from California this morning! I flew out yesterday with Jeff and Hayes to visit family and to sneak away for a few days in Seattle. Follow along on my stories if you’d like. For now I wanted to share a fresh roundup of weekend DIY projects — it’s one of my favorite things to gather for you. If you enjoy these, tell me and I’ll keep doing them.
These posts don’t always get a lot of comments, but whenever I ask which posts you like best in surveys or on Instagram, this style of roundup is consistently a favorite. If you enjoy these collections, please let me know in the comments below.
Okay, let’s dive into the DIYs. Here are six weekend projects that are fun, approachable, and worth trying.
1. Try these mirrored side tables from A Beautiful Mess, inspired by Leanne Ford’s coffee table. I originally planned to make a similar coffee table inspired by an Instagram photo, but this side table project from A Beautiful Mess won me over — it’s an elegant result that captures the same vibe.
2. These half-circle wood shelves are a DIY I made for Hayes’ room before he was born. They’ve been in his neutral nursery for a year and have held up beautifully. The shelves still look like they did the day they were made; the only change has been how I style the toys and objects on them.
3. A modern back-to-school project you can use with or without kids is a chalkboard wall organizer. It’s practical, stylish, and perfect for organizing schedules, schoolwork, or household reminders.
4. Every fall I start thinking about this pom-pom ottoman. It’s a cozy spot to sit or rest your feet and can also work in a child’s room if the pom-pom look feels too playful for your main living area.
5. These 10-minute yarn bowls are one of my favorite quick projects. They’re fast to make, great for fall, and surprisingly simple — ideal when you want a satisfying DIY that doesn’t take much time.
6. Finally, there’s the DIY weaving loom. It’s budget-friendly and impressively large, which makes it great for big weaving projects. If the large loom feels like too much, that same post includes a tutorial for a smaller version.
Wishing you a happy, creative weekend.
