After a lengthy recovery from the whirlwind of Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’m finally ready to share entertaining and hosting ideas again. First up: a simple DIY beaded monogram place setting—because a little handmade detail can turn a casual dinner into something memorable. Ready to try it?

Technically, place settings at small dinner parties aren’t strictly necessary, but they’re a thoughtful touch that makes guests feel welcome. This beaded monogram is quick, affordable, and customized to suit any gathering. Here’s how to make one yourself.

Materials

  • Wooden beads
  • Thin craft wire
  • Acrylic paint (optional)
  • Wire cutters or scissors

Instructions

1. Paint the beads in your chosen color palette. I used soft pastels, but a monochrome charcoal or a range of greens for a themed event would also look great. Allow the beads to dry completely beforehandling.

2. While the beads dry, shape the wire into the basic outline of each letter you want to create. Keep the wire slightly longer than the final shape so you can secure the ends.

3. Thread the painted beads onto the wire. Add a few beads at a time, then bend the wire to follow the letter shape as you go. Continue until the letter is filled with beads.

4. Trim any excess wire and twist or tuck the ends to prevent the beads from slipping off. Make sure the letter holds its shape; adjust the bends as needed for a clean, readable monogram.

The result is a charming, tactile place card that doubles as a little keepsake for guests to take home.
