When I was a child I disliked banana chips. I loved fresh bananas, but the crunchy, sweet banana chips were a different story. Over time my tastes changed, and now I regularly buy banana chips to take on car rides and hikes.
Today, in celebration of Banana Lover’s Day, I made a snack that even my younger self might have enjoyed: chocolate-dipped banana chips.
Adding chocolate transforms almost any snack into a treat, and these are no exception. They’re a small indulgence that still has a healthy side—after all, they’re made from banana—so you can enjoy them without too much guilt.

Ingredients:
– banana chips
– white chocolate morsels or almond bark
– gel food coloring
– parchment paper
Instructions:
1. Melt the white chocolate or almond bark in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
2. Stir in gel food coloring until you reach the desired shade.
Note on colors: I began with purple to achieve a soft lilac. From there I adjusted colors by adding small amounts of other gels: pink added to purple produced a rosier hue; yellow mixed with pink yielded an orange tint; and a touch of blue shifted colors toward gray-green. Experiment with tiny amounts until you get the colors you like.
3. Dip each banana chip halfway into the colored chocolate. Place the dipped chips on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set.

Enjoy these chocolate-dipped banana chips on their own, mix them into homemade trail mix for a crunchy surprise, or sprinkle them over a bowl of ice cream for added texture and flavor.
