I’m happy to share a very simple DIY project that’s quicker and easier than my last one. If you’re like me and always looking for lightweight ways to stay organized—especially in a small shared home office—this is a cheerful, functional solution that takes just minutes.
Our office is the only room we hadn’t painted yet, and I wanted to add a splash of color and organization without a big project. What I came up with are album cover wall organizers that are decorative, inexpensive, and fast to make.
These album cover wall organizers can be completed in under five minutes.

Album Cover Wall Organizers in Minutes
Materials
- Colorful album cover sleeves — I used children’s albums because their illustrations are fun, but any sturdy album covers work.
- Scissors
- Foam mounting squares (or other removable double-sided adhesive)
How to Make Album Cover Wall Organizers
Step One: Prepare the album cover
Place the album cover so the opening is facing upward.
Step Two: Cut a pocket (optional)
On the front flap, cut a half-oval shape starting at the top where the opening is. Do not cut through the back flap. I freehanded this curve, but you can trace a template if you prefer a uniform look.
Note: If you’re hesitant to cut the cover, skip this step. The sleeve will still function as a pocket, though accessing papers may be a bit less convenient.

Step Three: Add mounting squares
Flip the cover over to the back. Place a foam mounting square at each corner, then peel off the paper backing so the adhesive is exposed.
Step Four: Attach to the wall
Press the cover firmly against the wall where you want it. Fill the pocket with papers, envelopes, folders, or decorative paper and enjoy your new wall organizer.
I used the bottom pocket for notebook paper and manila folders and the top one for patterned and decorative papers.

Tips and variations:
- Use a mix of album art styles for a lively gallery of pockets.
- Use stronger adhesive or lightweight picture-hanging strips if you’ll store heavier items.
- Group several covers in a grid or staggered pattern to create a larger organizing wall.
- Label each pocket with small tags or write directly on the cover with a permanent marker for quick identification.
These organizers are a fast, affordable way to add color and function to a small office or studio without painting or major installs. They’re especially handy for sorting incoming mail, storing craft paper, organizing notebooks, or keeping reference materials within easy reach.
