With family visiting back-to-back, preparing my guest bedroom and bathroom became a priority. Now that the bathroom is nearly finished, I wanted to share a quick sneak peek and my top three essentials every guest bathroom should have before visitors arrive.

Guest Bathroom Essential #1: Toilet Paper

Guest Bathroom Essential #2: Toiletries
Toiletries are another must-have. Travelers frequently forget small items like toothpaste or shampoo, so it’s thoughtful to offer a small selection of essentials. Keep a dedicated tray or basket stocked with travel-size or full-size items depending on your space and the length of your guests’ stay.
My go-to list includes: shampoo and conditioner, body wash, a razor, toothpaste, an extra toothbrush, a hairbrush, and a hair dryer. When possible, choose gentle or allergy-friendly products—organic and eco-friendly options are a nice touch for guests with sensitive skin or scent sensitivities, though they’re optional.

Guest Bathroom Essential #3: Textiles
Soft, clean textiles make a bathroom feel welcoming. Stock shower towels, hand towels, and a bath mat or absorbent rug so guests have everything they need. Choose towels that are plush and absorbent—comfort matters—and consider neutral or coordinated colors that suit the space.
Eco-friendly towels made from organic cotton or other sustainable fibers are an excellent option if you want to make greener choices. No matter the material, make sure towels are fresh, neatly folded or hung, and easy for guests to access.
More Guest Bathroom Ideas
Beyond the three essentials, a few extra touches elevate the guest bathroom. Artwork, a small plant, a stool in the shower for shaving, a nightlight, or a tray for jewelry and small items can make the room feel thoughtfully prepared. Consider a small dish or hook for used towels and an easily reachable waste bin. These details make staying over more convenient and comfortable.
