Chips and salsa are one of my all-time favorite snacks—perfect any time of year. With Cinco de Mayo coming up, it’s the perfect moment to whip up a crowd-pleasing snack. These homemade lime chips and three quick salsas are easy, fresh, and great for sharing.
Below you’ll find a simple method for crisp lime tortilla chips plus three original salsa recipes: a classic tomato salsa, a zesty green salsa, and a sweet pineapple salsa. Enjoy!

How to Make Homemade Lime Chips
- 1 package (12 count) small corn tortillas
- 2 fresh limes
- cooking spray (coconut oil spray or olive oil spray work well)
- coarse sea salt
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut each tortilla into six wedges and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Lightly spray the tortillas with cooking spray—this helps them crisp up. Squeeze the juice of one lime evenly over the chips and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake for 5–6 minutes, flip the chips, add another very light spray of oil, squeeze the second lime over them, and sprinkle with a bit more salt. Bake another 5–6 minutes until they’re golden and crisp.
If you prefer plain chips, skip the lime and follow the same steps with oil and salt only.

Homemade salsa is quick, fresh, and customizable. Below are three variations we love: a classic tomato salsa, a bright and spicy green salsa, and a fruity pineapple salsa.
Easy Tomato Salsa (Classic)
This traditional tomato salsa is my favorite of the three—bright, tangy, and perfect with lime chips.
- 1 lb cherry tomatoes
- 1/3 cup diced onion
- 1/2 fresh jalapeño (adjust for heat)
- juice from 1/2 lime
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- cilantro to taste
Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until you reach your desired consistency. For a restaurant-style texture, blend until fine. Taste and adjust salt, lime, or cilantro as needed.

Easy Green Salsa (Spicy)
Heads up: this green salsa packs heat. Reduce the jalapeño if you want it milder.
- 4 oz diced green chiles (canned or fresh)
- 1/2 fresh jalapeño (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp cilantro
- juice from 1 lime
- pinch of salt
Add everything to a food processor and blend to your preferred texture. We recommend blending fairly smooth for a restaurant-style verde salsa. Taste and adjust lime or salt as needed.

Easy Pineapple Salsa (Sweet & Tangy)
This fruity salsa is a sweet contrast to the spicy and classic options. We like to add extra lime for brightness.
- 1/2 cup chopped mango
- 1/2 cup chopped pineapple
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 2 tbsp cilantro
- juice from 1 lime (or more to taste)
- pinch of salt
Toss all ingredients into a food processor and pulse until you reach the texture you prefer. We left this salsa slightly chunky to keep the fruit pieces intact. Taste and add more lime, salt, or cilantro if desired.
