Besides the kitchen updates I’ve been experimenting with recently, I’ve also been reworking a more permanent seating solution for the studio. It’s been an on-and-off project for a while, and I hadn’t quite settled on a look that felt lasting—until now.
I think I finally pulled it together (yay), and I wanted to share the before-and-after in collaboration with a site I’m currently obsessed with: Everything But The House (EBTH).
If you haven’t discovered EBTH yet, it’s worth a look. It’s an online estate-sale marketplace where you can shop curated collections from homes across the country. I’m completely hooked—especially since I’ve pretty much exhausted thrift and antique shops nearby. EBTH is a great resource for unique vintage finds, and they add thousands of items daily. If you don’t spot what you want today, check again tomorrow; many lots start at $1 with no reserves.
I scored amazing deals for the studio refresh. The hand-knotted antique Persian rug shown in the after photos ended up being a steal—my winning bid was $326. I also found a set of vintage rattan and rope stools for $95, a handwoven seagrass beehive basket for $35 that I love, a Persian wool dog bed for $160, and a striped pink handwoven throw for only $2.
Here’s a quick reminder of how the space looked before I started rearranging. I snapped the first photo right before moving things around—and yes, for some reason I’d piled almost every pillow and blanket I own on the sofa before redecorating. Guilty as charged.
The sofa, chairs, coffee table, artwork, pillows, and the small white light fixture were pieces I already owned and had around the studio. I complemented them with EBTH finds and added plenty of plants to bring the space to life.
Overall, I’m really pleased with the result. There are always a few small tweaks I might make (I never feel a room is completely finished), but the loft now feels much cozier and more lived-in.
