I enjoy mixing styles—whether in clothing, accessories, or home décor—so it made sense to apply that same playful approach to a hair tutorial. This side-swept braid paired with loose waves blends soft femininity with a subtle touch of edge, largely thanks to the smooth, slicked-back side.
The contrast between the textured braid and the flowing wave creates a fresh, modern look that feels both effortless and intentional. Below is a clear, easy-to-follow guide so you can recreate this style at home.

Instructions
- Start by curling your hair to establish waves and add movement. Prep the style with texturizing products: apply a texturizing powder at the roots for lift and a texturizing spray through the lengths to create grip and separation.
- Create a deep side part and begin a braid on the side with less hair. Use an inverted French braid technique (braiding each strand under and adding hair as you go) so the braid sits on top for a slightly raised, polished look.
- Braid down toward the nape of the neck. When you reach the base, secure the braid discreetly with bobby pins. Gently pull at sections of the braid to loosen it and build a messy, textured finish—this adds volume and a relaxed feel.
- Tease the remaining hair that’s left out of the braid to enhance fullness. Finish with a light-hold hairspray to lock in the shape while keeping movement and avoiding stiffness.
