Behind the Scenes: Summer Canyon Designs and Concrete Ideas

Yesterday I spent a busy, exciting day behind the scenes with an incredible group of women on a playful shoot at Providence Canyon. I was thrilled to be back there, helping out on a project done simply for fun. I can’t wait to share the finished photos—there’s a sneak peek below.

July has been an adventurous month of travel for me: I visited Jacksonville, Texas; North Eleuthera in the Bahamas; and Orlando. I’m feeling good about the progress on my “12 trips in 12 months” project.

Canyon Dreaming

Behind the scenes of a canyon photoshoot

Lately I’ve been eager to push my creative boundaries. Yesterday I tagged along on a shoot that Cori had imagined—helping with wardrobe styling, offering some art direction, and taking a few shots. The models were amazing: Jule and Kiley. I’m excited to share more from this session soon.

DIY woven plant pockets

Moody mint and navy vibes, mixed with powder blue.

I’ll never fully stop making woven DIYs. I recently published a tutorial for woven planter pockets on Etsy Studio—something I’d been excited to share for months. If you like weekend projects, you might remember this from a recent DIY roundup I posted.

Behind the scenes of a floating flower shoot.

Speaking of shoots, I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but while shooting the floating flower DIY, the session was cut short when I slipped into the pool and broke the flower sign. I was trying to redirect how the flowers floated and ended up falling in—right on top of the sign. It was disappointing, especially since I’d grown attached to that prop, but the photos we needed were already captured and I had to rush Amelia to the airport. She was the photographer for that shoot, and we still got beautiful images.

Summer vibes in North Eleuthera

I’ve really been into straw accents this summer—straw bags, straw hats, and everything in between. My big beach bag is an Etsy find, and the black-and-white beach towel is one I’ve been loving for its graphic simplicity.

A Concrete Jungle

A while back I shot a “concrete jungle” series featuring models in elegant dresses. I loved the images but couldn’t post them at the time, which was a bummer because I’d been eager to share them. Here’s a behind-the-scenes shot—Ayanna was a fantastic model for that series.

Finally, a quick sneak peek from my trip to the Bahamas (North Eleuthera). Jeff, Ashley and Jared made that trip unforgettable—one day in particular stands out as something I’ll remember for a long time. I’ll post more photos from the trip very soon.

What have you been up to lately? How has your month been so far?
